A Hawk on a Branch, A Lesson in Balance

There’s something humbling about seeing a bird of prey perched in stillness. It looks like royalty, but it’s also a worker—watching, waiting, conserving energy. In that pause is a reminder: strength isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s patience. Sometimes it’s restraint.

And even the ‘top’ of the food web isn’t truly on top. A hawk depends on healthy fields, on small mammals, on insects that pollinate the plants that feed the seeds that feed the mice. The hierarchy is circular if you look closely enough.

Nature doesn’t crown winners—it maintains relationships.

What Sunday Morning Teaches Me

On mornings like this, I try to borrow a little wisdom from the wild:

1. Do the small things first—like sipping coffee and taking a few mins to reflect on your day. Quiet work builds the whole world.

2. Stay aware of what you depend on—and what depends on you.

3. Rest is part of the system, not a failure of it.
