How Digital Coloring Saved Space and My Sanity on Vacation

Updated: Sep 12

I used to be that person—the one who packed an entire pouch of markers, a stack of coloring books, and a backup sketchpad “just in case.” My suitcase always had a corner reserved for creativity, even if it meant sacrificing an extra pair of shoes or a beach read.

But on my last trip, I made a bold move: I left the paper behind.

Instead, I downloaded a few digital coloring books onto my tablet, tucked in a stylus, and voilà—my entire art studio fit into a slim sleeve. No bent pages. No marker leaks. No TSA side-eyes.

And the best part? I could color anywhere. On the plane, in a hammock, even during a rainy afternoon in the hotel lobby. The whimsical bouquet themes and cozy characters felt like little companions, keeping me grounded and joyful in unfamiliar places.

Digital coloring didn’t just save space—it gave me freedom. I could switch palettes with a tap, undo a rogue scribble, and explore new styles without fear of “messing up.” It turned downtime into mindful moments, and travel into a creative retreat.

So now, my suitcase has room for that extra sundress and my sanity. And my coloring ritual? It’s lighter, brighter, and just as magical.
